Tassie and Pictures!!!
Ok, so Megan and I have come to the conclusion that Tasmania is one of the sweetest places in the world! Today is our last day here, so we're pretty bummed, but we've done a lot!
The first day here we went to another brewery (the picture on the left), the Cascade Brewery. It was real interesting to hear their take on beer and how they make it. They have a real good amber ale and a great stout. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a stout man, I love the darker, roasted beers.
Yesterday we took a tour to Port Arthur and Richmond. Both places were interesting. Richmond is one of the oldest towns in Australia and looks like an old English village (They have a good bakery!). They have the oldest bridge in Oz also, built in about 1823.
Our tour guide, Mark. was the best I've ever had in my life! He knew more then a person should! We found out this is because when his kid was a baby he had nothing to do at night, so he's read the Lonely Planet books from cover to cover. thats a picture of him down next to the bridge.
Port Arthur was amazing too! This is one of the oldest penitentiaries in Australia and was where the worst of the worst were sent. It was hard to believe that it was such a bad place to be... its beautiful there now!
Ok, well here are some pictures that I promised people. I took some pictures of metal sculptures for you Skip:
And for you Megan, a surfer on the Gold Coast at Surfer's Paradise:
We have to be ready at 4:45am tomorrow and head to the airport... so I shall talk to y'all later!!!

oh megan... thank goodness they didn't have any shards of ancient pottery lyinig around... you're not to be trusted! How do you guys find out about all these great things to do? and how's the weather? reply to some of my comments goddamnit! love you both!
Nice going! Ben, I could have told you that you were a "stout man" before you left. The Tassies are real beer people. Indeed, if you were to innocently ask during a lull in the general boisteriousness of the Pub about the merits of, say, Bud Lite, everything would get very quiet and some big guy would ask if you ever drank sheep piss.

who was the guy in the bathing
suit???????
glad you guys are having a great
time.
love mom and aunt
that's not a surfer!
and if he really is, then return him! i don't want him! i want another one.
you aren't really selling the idea of me jumping on a plane once i'm done here in july to come meet up.
i hate you guys.
OHMYGAWD!!! That hairy backed, balding, fourty
something, love-handled Trogladite surfer is ME!! When did you take that photo?! I'll sue!!
Yeah!! Let's hear it for stout - the darker the better. I tell ya Ben, you've got to try it with a raw egg and sugar for a real treat. I think the "cosmic lurker" is Carlos, he recognized his own back. Love the pictures and the commentary. Love and kisses, Mom and Auntie Mary
Well the saga continues as does the fun. the time goes too fast, and glad you guys are having a great time, each place you go, is harder to leave than the last
so how much of the Cadbury bar is left? The surfer is not me, thanks Mary, and he should have been dragged over coral to remove the sweater, sorry Megan M., you can do better at Zuma, and what about an Aussie chick? or did they have hairy backs too, like the Germans. Ok enough of upsetting the world, continue beer tasting, the smoking, the carousing until Laura gets there.dont forget to stop once in awhile and watch the folks.
OK, kids, it's (like) June 4th (in this hemisphere). How is Melborne? I don't want to put any (like) pressure on you to update your blog but we're getting (like) tired of reading the same posting (about Tassie) (like) (you Know?)
well Ben today was the day, the BIG TEST, I spent Saturday and Sunday, studying and it paid off, I passed
so now you can stop worrying and have a good time on your trip
and how do you do spell check on this blog? Did take some time to go with the group, vin, lauire, tim, susie , bill, rosanne, sylvia and oh yea your mom, for some Cubano food, Mom had some mojitos and was last seen dancing with the groom at a wedding party next door, if she writes you, tell her it is ok to come home,
Ben and Megan -- I haven't heard from you guys in a while -- hope you're having fun in Melbourne! Send photos!
Love,
Oooka
